2 Crafty Critter Crazies December Challenge - Sponsored by Sasayaki Glitter

Merry Christmas!!!!  I can hardly believe it's December.  Where did 2017 go?  I'm not sure .... but I do know that this Penguin had fun peeking through each of these windows!

I printed this little guy out many times and then cut him to fit in each one of these stitched window frames.  I embossed the cardstock with a snowflake embossing folder and finished it off with the Fa La La La die sentiment from Lawn Fawn.

On the inside I used a larger image and added liquid appliqué to the bottom.  When you heat emboss liquid appliqué it poofs up and looks like snow!  Probably the closest snow I'll see in Georgia!

Merry Christmas and Happy Crafting!

4 Crafty Chicks #379 Anything Goes... so shaving cream it is!

It is my last week guest designing for 4 Crafty Chicks and I couldn't be more excited to share this design!  I recently saw someone marbleizing paper with shaving cream... so, I had to try it and it sure was fun! (and slightly messy!)

I used two different coloring techniques with the shaving cream.  The first was to use colorburst powders.  They provided a cool finish that reminded me of peacock feathers and then it all fell into place!  I embossed the peacock feather with gold embossing powder and die cut it out.

The second layer was made using shaving cream and liquid metals.  The marbleizing was incredible! I die cut a stitched rectangle out of the background and matted it on various colored papers.
The sentiment is from Concord & 9th embossing in gold on to clear vellum.

If you give a crafter a cookie - Challenge #83

I do love me some macaroons!!!!!

Welcome to 'If you Give a Crafter a Cookie' challenge #83 sponsored by Scibbles Designs and Fred She Said.

I selected this cute kitten and an ornament image from Fred She Said... I still have thoughts about coloring in the ornament to match the cookie - but as of right now, I didn't do that.  :)

To start, I printed the image on my laser jet printer and a second image on masking paper.  I fussy cut out the masking paper and covered the original image on my cardstock.  I then used distress inks to create a background for our little kitten.  This is such a great technique and I was grateful to Kelly for sharing it on her youtube video.

I used the Sunny Studio evergreen fir branch in several Stampin' Up inks on the top of the card.  I colored the kitten and ornament in with Spectrum Noir Markers and Sparkle Markers.  I finished the card with a sentiment from Pretty Posh Pink.

Thank you for stopping by.... and I hope you have a cookie today!

Aud Sentiments Challenge #194 - Christmas + A Sentiment

It's my first time designing with Aud Sentiments!  I'm so very excited to join this team and to be working with Bugaboo Stamps for this last challenge of 2017!

The background is a wow factor.  I just bumped into marbleizing paper with shaving cream and this was one of my first creations mixing it with Ken Oliver's Colorbursts.

This little guy is colored in with Spectrum Noir Sparkle Markers with a little liquid appliqué.  The sentiment is from Stamps of Life.

Thank you for joining this week for challenge #194!  See you in 2018 with more designs and more fun!

Merry Christmas and Happy Crafting!

4 Crafty Chicks #378 Outdoor Winter Activity

Welcome back to the 4 Crafty Chicks #378 Outdoor Winter Activity Challenge!  This was sorta an easy pick for me having been an ice skater for much of my life!  Ironically enough, the only ice skate I had in my collection was on a Cricut Cartridge!  I started with a piece of glossy paper and blotted Ranger Inks (blue and silver) all over the paper.  It really does shimmer in the light!  I added a few branch punches and the Penny Black 'Winter Wishes' die cut to finish this card off!
Thank you for visiting us this week at 4 Crafty Chicks!  I only have one more week as their guest designer... and then I get to return to entering the challenges!

Happy Crafting!

Creative Knockouts Challenge #221 Thankful Thoughts

I have to giggle.... 'Eat Mor Chikin' is the catch phrase for Chik Fil A... and I did a lot of research on trademark infringement!  Since I'm not profiting from this card and sending it to my fiancé for Thanksgiving - I should be legally safe!  I embossed the ink drops with gold embossing powder and then added distress inks and water all over the background to create all the fall colors.  I printed the words and then used my Minc to add purple deco foil to it.  The turkey is colored in with Spectrum  Noir Markers and Sparkle Markers.  I did use the Lawn Fawn Stitched border when I cut out the sentiment and finished by adding some glitter gemstones.
This turkey is thankful for people to eat more chicken!

This card was also entered in the Crafty Calendar Challenge and Crafty Animals Challenge #8!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #239

Let is Snow!  Well.... I wish it would snow in Georgia!  I'll just remember with great fondness living in New England!  :)

I tried really hard to keep this card 'standing' up - but once I got all the snowflakes on it, I just had to spin it!  I made the snowflakes using glossy paper and blue and silver alcohol inks.  They sure do shimmer in person!  I'm such a fan of the color blue at Christmas!

Thank you for joining us at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #239!

4 Crafty Chicks #377 Recipe

Welcome to the 4 Crafty Chicks Recipe Challenge!  This is my third week guest designing with this super fun group!  For this challenge you'll use the following:
1 Bow
2 Colors
3 Snowflakes

This was the creation I came up with!  The background was created with Distress Oxide Inks.  Then I used the Lawn Fawn snow stamp with white ink.  The snowflakes are from the new My Favorite Things monthly kit.  They are beautiful and provide for a lot of variation, techniques, and creations!  The stamp is an old but goody!  I just love 'Flakes make the best Friends' by Impression Obsession that I embossed with Ranger's White Embossing Powder.

Thanks for joining us this week!

If you give a crafter a cookie - Challenge #82

Welcome to Challenge #82 sponsored by Cute as a Button and Sasayaki Glitter! This is my first time designing for the 'If you Give a Crafter a Cookie' blog and I couldn't be more excited! I am a definite cookie girl.... it's really the way to my heart! I was so excited to be able to use this image from Sasayaki Glitter. This little guy is so adorable and I had the image stashed for a while!  So the inspiration from the cookie image below was a perfect match for this image!

I used a technique recently shared by Kelly Tribout Latevola for Newton's Nook.  I just loved how masking the image allowed me to create a background so that the tea cup wasn't floating on the page. I printed the image on my laser jet printer and again on the masking paper. I fussy cut the image out and placed it over the tea cup mouse on my card stock. I then used my distress inks to create a background. Using the same sage ink, I also stamped a similar flower to create the appearance of wall paper. I think I've had this stamp since I was a child! LOL

I added two black lines to attempt at creating a table/edge. I colored in the image with my Spectrum Noir Markers and Sparkle Markers. This tea cup mouse is too adorable!

Thank you for joining us this week at 'If you Give a Crafter a Cookie'!

Newton's Nook - Inky Paws Challenge #59

'Tis the Season to be Jolly..... Fa la la la la la la la la!

I just love this little Newton... and this image is definitely what one of my cats would do with a real Christmas Tree in the house!  I used the Sunny Studio evergreen branch with three Stampin Up Inks and colored the branch in with a brown Spectrum Noir marker.
Then I used Versamark Ink and embossed the Lawn Fawn snow stamp with sparkle embossing powder all over the background.  I colored Newton with my Spectrum Noir markers and Sparkle markers.  The card was finished off with the Lawn Fawn Fa La La La die cut.
This card was created for the Inky Paws Challenge held by Newton's Nook.  Challenge #59 was to use four specific colors:  Holly red, Pinecone brown, Fir green, and Black.

4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #376 Give Thanks

I am in love with this cling stamp from The Ton Stamps!  Welcome back to 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #376 Give Thanks.  This is my 2nd week guest designing for this wonderful team!
I stamped the cherry blossom stamp on black paper with VersaMark ink and embossed in gold.  Then I used Gansai Tambi watercolors - the pearlescent colors and colored in each flower.  It's amazing this card looks blue when it's really white with pink and green flowers.  The sentiment is from Poppy Stamps Co.  Thank you again for stopping by!  I hope you'll join us this week!

Creative Knockouts #219 Fav Color Combo & Broken Fairy Designs

HUGS!!!!  Thanks for joining us this week for the Creative Knockouts #219 Favorite Color Combo Challenge hosted by Broken Fairy Designs!

I printed this little guy with a laser jet printer and colored in with Spectrum Noir Markers.  I did print a second image that used to pop up for the mushroom.  I did use a white gel pen to create a few white spots on the top of the mushroom.  The Hugs Sentiment is from Winnie and Walter and I layered three of them together to add a little dimension.

Thank you for stopping by!  We can't wait to see your creations this week!

Happy Crafting!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch #237

Thanks so very much!  And thank you for stopping by for the next Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #237!  I fell in love with this Fun Stampers Journey flowers and thought they would be perfect for the challenge.  I stamped the flowers and die cut them.  I colored them with my Spectrum Noir Glitter Markers.  The sentiment is an old Hero Arts stamp that I can't find a link to.  The stripped background was made using a lined stencil, Versamark ink, and gold embossing powder.  It's a great technique to have in your arsenal... using a stencil to create an embossed background can really make a card pop!  I hope you'll join us this week!

4 Crafty Chicks - Sketch #375 Challenge

I am so excited to be guest designing for 4 Crafty Chicks for the month of November!  I am also so excited with the results of this first card!  I was presented with Sketch Challenge #375, image below, and just knew what I wanted to create!
I recently took a class with Melanie April Cosmic Watercolor Class on creating planets.  I'm not sure why they popped into my mind when I first saw this sketch - but I just had to give the planet layout a shot... and I am so happy I did.

The planets are made with Gansai Tambi watercolors (including the gold metallic color).  The planets are made from the Simon Says Stamp Space Journey set.  The die cut in the middle of the page is also from Simon Says Stamp and I placed a piece of silver glitter paper behind the page.
The background was made with distress oxide inks.  I have no idea what type of paper I used - it was recommended when I bought the distress oxide inks - but it has a shimmer that looks like little twinkling stars when you have it in your hands.  You can see it in the image below.  I promise, I will find out what this paper is!

The sentiment is also from Simon Says Stamp You Matter set.

Thank you for joining us at 4 Crafty Chicks this week!  See you next week.

Happy Crafting!
