Playing with Rubber Cement... again... and distress inks

In the last Technique Tuesday video I used rubber cement to mask through a handmade stencil that was cut from the Brother Scanncut.  The insturctions and video are linked here.




I decided to try masking the 'laugh' and add distress inks, which turned into the Bokeh Method.  I just love masking and keeping that area as white as when I started!

An International Card Kit

I am now an international seller!  My girlfriend asked for a set of cards for her sister in England!  I picked 10 of my favorites and created this little card holder for her!  It even has a pen holder included!

It's a flip flop kinda day!

Summer is here!

I just adore these flip flops and using actual sandpaper to create a beachy card!  I used sandpaper and coated it with mod podge.

I used the flip flop image from the brother Scanncut!  Made one and then flipped the image to make the other.

Using alcohol inks to create a beautiful flower

What a beautiful weekend here in New England!  Someone asked for a 'fancy' thank you note and I really  had no idea where to start!

I started playing with alcohol inks and glossy paper.  I was so excited with how the colors worked together and decided to see what they'd look like die cut!

The hummingbirds are stickers that I layered over double sided tape and then I added more micro-fine glitter!

I just love how this card came together!

Newton gets patriotic! Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day Everyone!  There was a friendly card challenge in one of my Facebook Groups and Simon Says Stamp did an 'anything goes' challenge! 

I used one of the stamps from Newton's Nook.  This kitten had a flower pot originally, but I cut that out and gave him a flag pole!  I just love Newton!

A Thank You Note: Masculine

This was entered into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

I was asked to create a masculine thank you note!  A look what came of it!

I took some glossy card stock and used my distress inks to color it brown.  I embossed it with a wood grain folder and then reinked it.

I cut little strips of paper and used the Hero Arts thanks die cut!

Rubber Cement and Peerless Watercolors

Using Rubber Cement as a Mask and creating a Peerless Watercolor background!

Welcome back to another Technique Tuesday!  Todays technique is a bit different than my traditional card making, scrapbooking, or papercrafting videos!

I have the 'lobster two' font downloaded in Microsoft Word.  I printed the three words: Live, Laugh, Love.  I then scanned that sheet into the Brother Scanncut for a direct cut.  Once it was scanned, I swapped out the laserjet print out with a piece of whitecard stock and hit cut!  I wanted to create a stencil!

I placed the 'stencil' over a piece of watercolor paper and then coated the stencil with rubber cement.... TWICE.  Use a heat gun to set the first layer of rubber cement, reapply the stencil and do a second coat of rubber cement, and also heat set.  Rubber cement can create a great mask.  It will keep the base color clean and untouched by whatever you decide to do next.


I used Peerless Watercolors to create a background.  Once it was dry, I was able to rub the rubber cement off the words and have a clean white background.

These could be cards, scrapbook backgrounds, or framed as I did here.  Any stencil could be used.  The paper ones I created are still in great shape and ready to use again.  If you use a plastic stencil, I recommend washing immediately.
